“Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Targu Mures, the first private university in Transylvania and the second in Romania, was founded in 1991 and it functions as a private university accredited by Law no. 136/2005.

Dimitrie Cantemir University (DCU) is already an established provider of quality education which delivers undergraduate graduate courses to a broad community of students in a supportive and caring environment. It aims to become better, stronger and more distinguished throgh its education, research and the values it promotes.

DCU provides students with a material base of study of the highest standards, facilitating an optimal level of theoretical and practical education and instruction, the latter being carried out in specialized institutions on agreement basis.

LIBRARY
Among the few private universities in Romania with its own campus, DCU offers students a library with over 34.000 volumes and a modern readingroom. All students have access to the entire University database.

TEACHING STAFF
Over 60 full-time teaching staff (university professors, associate professors, lecturers and assistant professors) are highly qualified professionally and pedagogically and exploit interactive methods as well as the new technologies in their activity.
Authors and co-authors of an impressive number of books, coursebooks and research articles, the academic staff provide the students with the necessary study materials that are published by the "Dimitrie Cantemir Publishing House".

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AT UDC

DCU is dedicated to meeting the European standards in education. In this respect, one of DCU's basic objective is to internationalize its academic life through the facilitation and enlargement of transnational cooperation, particularly with European higher education institutions, their students and staff in order to develop a "European dimension" though Erasmus activities and other actions within the context of the Lifelong Learning Programme. The European inter-university cooperation offered by the LLP promoted by the European Commission and mainly by the Erasmus Programme is an excellent opportunity for DCU to be integrated in the European Area of Higher Education.


In this respect,our university's general strategy and objectives are:
- to continue to promote modern education and training based on the latest science and technique achievements and to further improve quality assurance;
- to promote and carry out the objectives of the Erasmus programme and also to fulfill the targets set under the LifeLong Learning Programme;
- to enhance the number of bilateral agreements already existing between our university and international universities.
